Privacy Policy for Clipboard Manager

1. Overview Clipboard Manager ("we," "us," or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Chrome Extension. Our core philosophy is "Local First"—your data belongs to you and stays on your device.

2. Information Collection and Use The Extension automatically captures text snippets, website URLs, and page titles when you perform a manual "copy" action (e.g., Ctrl+C or Cmd+C) within your browser.

  • Purpose: This data is collected solely to provide you with a searchable "Clipboard History" so you can retrieve previously copied information.

  • Scope: We only capture text that you explicitly copy. We do not monitor your keystrokes, browsing history, or form inputs outside of a copy event.

3. Data Storage and Security Privacy is built into the architecture of Clipboard Manager:

  • Local Storage Only: All captured clipboard data is stored locally on your personal device using the

    chrome.storage.local API.

  • No Data Transmission: We do NOT transmit your clipboard history, personal information, or browsing activity to any external servers, cloud providers, or third parties.

  • Developer Access: We have zero access to your data. Your history exists only within your browser profile on your machine.

4. Permissions Justification To provide its core functionality, the Extension requires the following permissions:

  • Storage: To save your clipboard history locally so it persists across browser sessions.

  • ClipboardWrite: To allow you to select a historical item and copy it back to your system clipboard.

  • Host Permissions (<all_urls>): To detect when a "copy" event occurs on the websites you visit. This is necessary for the automatic history-building feature to work globally.

5. User Control and Data Deletion You have complete control over your data:

  • Individual Deletion: You can delete any specific clipboard entry at any time.

  • Clear All: You can wipe your entire history with one click.

  • Uninstallation: If you uninstall the Extension, all data stored by the Extension is automatically and permanently deleted by the Chrome browser.

6. Third-Party Services The Extension does not use any third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising frameworks.

7. Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
